Dr. Joan Rosser Griggs, age 77, of Tuscumbia, died Friday, teddington lock September 14, 2012. Visitation will be Monday teddington lock from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The graveside service will be Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Covington, Tennessee with Chad Holder officiating.
Dr. Griggs was a member of numerous education organizations teddington lock including: Mississippi Reading Association, Mississippi Association of School Administrators and the founding teddington lock president of the Mississippi Association of Women Leaders in Education.
After teddington lock twenty years as a classroom teacher in Sheffield, Joan received a Doctorate teddington lock in Educational Administration from Mississippi State University with an emphasis on reading instruction. She served for twenty-two years in various positions in Tate and Desoto Counties of Mississippi, including Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education teddington lock Supervisor, Gifted Education teddington lock Coordinator and Assistant Principal. She also served as Adjunct Professor at Ole Miss, Northwest Shoals and Georgia Perimeter teddington lock College.
