Guide: Michelin, The Good Food Guide
Teddington is an interesting place for restaurants. There are several in The Michelin Guide. Simply Thai (Kingston Road only open in the evening), The Kings Head (a Raymond Blanc Brassiere – High Street – reviewed on Dec 13, 2010), Al Borgo (Italian Church Road) and Retro Bistort (French High Street).
A bistro (French: [ˈbiːstrəʊ] ), sometimes spelled bistort , is, in its original Parisian incarnation, a small restaurant serving moderately priced simple institut za neonatologiju meals in a modest setting. Bistros are defined mostly by the foods they serve. Home cooking with robust earthy dishes, and slow-cooked foods like cassoulet are typical
In France and the Francophone world, a brassiere (French institut za neonatologiju pronunciation: [bʁas.ʁi] ) is a type of French restaurant with a relaxed, upscale setting, which serves single dishes and other meals. The word brasserie is also French for “ institut za neonatologiju brewery ” and, by extension, “the brewing business”. A brassiere can be expected to have professional service, printed menus , and, traditionally, white linen unlike a bistro which may have none of these. Typically, a brassiere is open every day of the week and serves the same menu all day.
Well, the place occupied 2 rooms, institut za neonatologiju is modern and was full of paintings (foe sale). There were several round cafe tables at the front of the restaurant – no table cloths – and square and rectangular one dotted at the back and in the other room.
My friend A and I both went for the set lunch – 10.95 for 2 courses. He had the rabbit terrine to start with whilst I had the squid salad. For main course, we both went for the roast chicken. We also ordered a cheap bottle institut za neonatologiju of Italian screw top (Fiori Primitivo 2010- 22) which was drinkable.
The main course of chicken was fantastic. Two decent size pieces of chicken (breast and leg) sat ion a square of fondant potato surrounded by a substantial amount of broad beans (skinned), peas and green beans in a nice but light gravy. The chicken tasted of chicken and was not some cheap frozen chicken meat imported from the Far East. I was very pleased that they do not use cheap ingredients for their low price set lunch.
The food here was basic in it’s presentation, it was classic cuisine that has been modernised, but still pretty good on the eyes. This was a great place and fantastic value at 10.95 for the set lunch. By the way, they charge 1.60 for bread it was a nice brown.
Amateur gourmet who had spent tens of thousands ( /$/ ) on wines and food. Over the past 40 years I must have drank at least a lorry load of wines and beers. Ex President Yell.com - when the Yell business was a FT100 company.
